SSSC Registration Deadline. 

Are you Registered yet ?

Residential child care workers are required by Scottish Government to be registered with the SSSC by 30 September 2009.   Residential child care workers had until 31 March 2009 to get their applications into the SSSC. This was to make sure that SSSC could process applications in time for workers to be registered before required registration applied to their post.

Agency Staff who previously/currently receive placements as Residential child care workers but who have not yet submitted applications for registration must do so now as a matter of urgency. 

Effective 30th September, 2009 no further child care placements can be offered without proof of SSSC Registration.

What happens if workers are not appropriately registered by the deadlines?

The new regulations for required registration mean that employers will be committing an offence if, after September 2009 (for residential child care workers), they employ a worker in a care service who is not registered with the SSSC or another relevant regulatory body eg the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
